Among Strangers

Before the war and the dispersal of the family, my grandfather
and my sister enjoyed a walk in his home town of Susice,
 in what was then Czechoslovakia.

About Me

Marietta Pritchard
I am a writer living in Amherst, Massachusetts. My book is available at several local bookstores, from Amazon.com, and from me at: mppritchard@comcast.net at a cost of $25 plus shipping. ***** ***** ***** ***** ****** ****** ****** I spent 13 years during the 1970s and '80s working as a writer and editor at the Daily Hampshire Gazette in nearby Northampton. For the past 20 years, I have been a freelance writer and editor, writing for businesses and educational institutions, editing other people's manuscripts. At the same time, I have continued to write a regular column for the Gazette. During most of that time, I have also been writing about my family, beginning with an attempt to reach a deeper understanding of Hungary, my father's home country, the place where I was born, but which I left too early to remember. Other parts of the family and of the Central European map soon began to interest me. I wrote an essay about my maternal grandmother, which was published in the Massachusetts Review. Shortly thereafter, my mother gave me a few of her father's letters from Occupied France, which launched the project which became Among Strangers.
